The Mayor of London has announced the first commercial boiler scrappage scheme of its kind in the UK, which will help small to medium-sized businesses save money on energy bills, while also improving air quality in the Capital.

 The new scheme aims to:

  • boost commercial energy efficiency across London
  • improve air quality by reducing harmful NOx (nitrous oxide) and CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions
  • help achieve the Mayor’s ambition to make London a zero carbon city by 2050

Delivered in partnership with the Energy Saving Trust, the £10m ‘Cleaner Heat Cashback scheme’ will provide SMEs in London with a 30-40% contribution towards the cost of installing a new high-efficiency, low-NOx gas or LPG boiler. There is also the possibility to receive a contribution of 35% when installing heat pumps, hybrid systems or connecting to a local heat network.

Commenting on the new initiative, Andreea Manoiu, Solutions Centre Manager at ELCO Heating Solutions, said: “The commercial boiler scrappage scheme is welcome news for the heating industry and London’s businesses alike. Manufacturers are well aware of the advantages available from upgrading to the latest commercial units, and it is fantastic that this scheme will open up those benefits to a wider number of companies.”
